Expresses his surprise at another set of plans being obtained from a different architect. Remarks ‘...in the course of my professional experience I never heard of a second architect being employed to furnish plans...without the knowledge of the man who was first engaged to do so.’. Remarks that he could have altered the plans to suit Fr Delany’s specifications and fears that his reputation may have been affected because of the incident.

From an unidentified Jesuit in Rome [from handwriting Mr John P. Barry SJ] to [Irish Fr Provincial]. Gives an account of the upheavals in Rome, and the effects on the Jesuit community there. Describes the movements of a mob and ‘a gross battalion of the Scum of the Roman plebaglia’, who posed a threat to the safety of the Jesuits, including Br. Keating and a group of scholastics, who were forced to quarter at the Irish College instead of the Roman College. The writer also describes his own experiences, including being ‘shut up’ in the Roman College for two days, and smuggling seven Italian Jesuits out of Rome to England. (Incomplete).

Describes the scenes in Rome after the entrance of the Italian troops, and the effect of these events on foreigners and Catholics (including Jesuits) in the city. States that [Brs] Keating, Byrne and Weafer had not yet arrived, but are expected that day.

Thanks the Father Superior for his invitation.
