He wanted to enter as a scholastic and was recommended to St Kevin’s College OMI, Enniskerry, County Wickow (Oblate House of Studies for late vocations) by Fr Aubrey Gwynn SJ, in order to get his Latin studies done. He bgean in September 1941, but did not stick with it.
