◆ Francis Finegan SJ Biographical Dictionary 1598-1773
He was born at Cashel, February 1586, and was the son of Nicholas Halley and his wife Helen Everard. He studied Philosophy at Lisbon under Father James Everard, and then returned. for reasons of health, to Ireland, where he was admitted to Minor Orders by the Archbishop of Cashel.

he returned later to Europe and entered the irish College of Douai, where he studied Theology for one year, and then entered the Society at Tournai, September 20, 1610.

After his Noviceship he was sent to St Omer to continue his Theological course.

Contemporary Catalogi cannot help us to determine whether he was ordained Priest in the winter 1614/1615, but a letter of March 21, 1615, implies that he was already a priest.

His name then diappears from all Jesuit records.
