He is mentioned by Holywood in a letter 29/06/1604 as having been lately been sent to Bordeaux, a prudent man, to reside there, to be the medium of conveying correspondence to and fro. In another letter 30/06/1606, he informs George Duras that Mr Strong had returned from Bordeaux, and three days before he narrowly escaped capture in Dublin when waling the streets incautiously by day. (cf Oliver, Stonyhurst MSS)

STRONG, PATRICK. In a letter of F. Holiwood, dated the 30th of June 1604, he says, “we have sent lately to Bourdeaux Mr. Patrick Strong, a prudent man, to reside there, to be the conveyer to and fro of our correspondence”. In a letter of the 30th of June, 1606, he informs F. George Duras that Mr. Strong had returned from Bordeaux, and that but three days ago he was nearly captured in the streets of Dublin, whilst unadvisedly walking in the day time.
