◆ Francis Finegan SJ Biographical Dictionary 1598-1773

He was born in Ireland, November 18, 1727 and entered the Society at Naples, November 29, 1740.

After his Noviceship he studied Rhetoric and then Philosophy at the Collegium Maximum of the Society in the same city and passed his period of Regency at Capua. He was a Priest by 1754 when he was sent to complete his course of Theology at the Roman College. After his Tertianship, he taught Humanities for a time at the College of Nobles at Naples, and from 1761 to 1764 lecturred in Moral Theology in the College of Barletta.

After this latter date his career cannot be traced with certainty. He may be identical with a Father Carew who was Rector at Brindisi in 1768.

According to the late Edmund Hogan SJ, Carew died in Rome after 1792, but adduces no authority for this statement.
